This Kawai BL-71 is from a local resident and has been serviced by Laursen Piano Service for about 13 years, giving us firsthand knowledge of its maintenance history and performance.
Made in Japan in 1978, the BL-71 is a full-size 52-inch professional upright. Its tall cabinet provides longer bass strings and greater soundboard area than a smaller console or studio piano, producing the fuller bass response, tonal depth and projection expected from a large upright. It is an excellent option for a serious student, teaching studio, church or home that wants substantial acoustic performance without the floor space required by a grand piano.
This piano has been professionally inspected and tuned. Its frame and support structure are stable, and the bridges and soundboard are free of cracks. The strings are in good condition, with only minimal age-appropriate oxidation and no noted buzzing or tonal loss. The keyboard and action are in good condition, with even regulation and only normal hammer wear.
The warm walnut-finish cabinet shows minor cosmetic wear consistent with its age, including a side-panel scuff and a small blemish near one of the lower legs.
This is a substantial Japanese built professional upright with a known service history, dependable construction and a full-size sound. A detailed inspection report is available upon request.
